Demi-Pair at Akademie Zeitgeist

The Demi-Pair program combines learning German with taking care of children and helping out in a German family. Demi-Pairs are adults who have good knowledge of German (B1) and experience in taking care of children. Depending on the need of the family, the Demi-Pair will look after the children in the mornings or afternoons, and occasionally in the evenings and on weekends. In addition, they will help out with the housework. The family provides the Demi-pair with room and board and, as agreed upon with the family, pocket money. In their remaining free time the Demi-Pair will attend a German course at our language school.

Duration: 20 – 36 weeks

German course: Intensive Course, 20 units of 45 min/week

 

Requirements:

  • 18 – 30 years old
  • Intermediate knowledge of German (B1)
  • Experience in taking care of children (references if possible)
  • Proof of First Aide Course (an advantage)
  • Driver‘s license (an advantage)
  • Health and liability insurance

 

Work areas:

  • Taking care of children
  • Helping out in the family with general household duties
  • Cooking
  • Shopping and running errands
  • Occasional private tutoring of children in their mother language

 

Working hours:

  • Maximum of 25 hours of work per week (according to the family’s needs during the day, in the evening and on weekends)
  • At least one free day per week

 

Compensation:

  • Free room and board
  • Pocket money (in agreement with the family)
