Zeitgeist (pronounced tsaitgaist) is a German philosophical term first coined by Herder, referring to a “spirit of the age” or “spirit of the times”, in other words, to an invisible force setting the characteristics of a historical era.
Akademie Zeitgeist is owned by a group of language professionals, who have known each other for over twenty years. Their combined know-how of the international education sector and their individual experiences in different markets and with a variety of products set the scene for Akademie Zeitgeist: to provide high value German language classes at competitive rates in popular destinations of Germany.
The consortium behind Akademie Zeitgeist consists of Thomas Meier and Torsten Pankok (ex Travelplus/Travelworks, Germany), Jos von Kerkhof (Study Travel Nijmegen, Netherlands and Málaga, Spain), Bernhard Roters (CLIC IH Spanish Language School in Seville, Cadiz and Málaga, Spain) and finally Sven Lidén and Walter Denz (Liden & Denz Russian Language School in St. Petersburg, Moscow and Irkutsk, Russia).
All German language schools owned by Akademie Zeitgeist are affiliated by the International House Network. The global network was founded in 1953 and has more than 150 affiliated private language schools in 52 countries all over the world. All members are independently owned and run, but inspired by one common aim: the very highest standards in language education. Our customers can trust in our commitment to excellence in language teaching and teacher training. Regular inspections guarantee stable quality standards over the longer term that our students as well as all employees can count on anytime.
CSN – Swedish students at Akademie Zeitgeist can apply for a CSN scholarship. It is an important support for Swedish students when applying for a course.
Jobcenter – For many years we have been working together with the job centers in Freiburg and the surrounding areas to enable people to gain access to the German job market by improved language skills.
GRETA – Together with the Pôle Emploi in the region Grand Est, the GRETA Centre in Alsace and the GRETA Sud, we are offering German language programmes aimed at assisting French job seekers in Germany.
